Send a Folder Between Devices and Keep Its Structure

Sending one file to another device is easy. Sending a whole folder is not: email won't attach a folder, cloud storage means an account and uploading everything to someone else's server, and a USB drive only works when the two devices are side by side. Clipcroft skips all of it: open clipcroft.com in any browser on each device, drag the folder onto the page on your computer, and save it on the other device as a ZIP with its subfolders intact — no account, no app, nothing to install.

Send a folder to another device in three steps

  1. On the computer that has the folder, open clipcroft.com in any browser and click Create a new online clipboard. You'll get a clipboard name like "coolfox42".
  2. On the other device, open clipcroft.com, enter the same clipboard name, and tap or click Open. Both devices are now connected.
  3. On the computer, drag the folder onto the page. Its files start transferring to the other device right away. On the other device, tap or click the three-dots button next to Save all to this device at the top of the content and choose Save as ZIP to save the folder with its subfolders intact.

Keep the Clipcroft tab open on both devices while files transfer.

The folder arrives with its subfolders

The ZIP contains the folder as it was on your computer, with the same subfolders and file names. Send a folder called Trip and the ZIP unpacks to:

Trip/
  notes.txt
  Day1/
    a.jpg
    b.jpg
  Day2/
    c.jpg

If you only want some of the files, tap or click Save on each one, or use Save all to this device to save every received file at once. Both save the files on their own, without the folders — choose Save as ZIP when you want the folder structure.

Good to know

Why this works without the cloud or a cable

Clipcroft uses WebRTC — the browser-to-browser technology behind Google Meet and most modern web video calls. Once both devices are on the same shared clipboard name, the browsers connect peer-to-peer. Files travel browser-to-browser between the two devices and are never uploaded to or stored on any server — no cloud account, no cable.

What that means in practice:

Browser support

Any modern browser on any platform: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Samsung Internet, and Brave on Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, iOS 15.4 or newer, and Android 8 or newer. No app install, no account, no extension required.

Frequently asked questions

Does the folder keep its subfolders on the other device?

Yes, when you save it with Save as ZIP. The ZIP contains the folder as it was on your computer, with the same subfolders and file names. Save and Save all to this device save the files on their own, without the folders.

Can I send a folder from my phone?

No. A folder is sent by dragging it onto the page, and phone browsers can't do that. From a phone you can send files, and a phone can receive a folder sent from a computer.

Is there a size limit for a folder?

Clipcroft sets no per-file, per-day, or per-month cap; the practical limit is the free storage your browser allows on the receiving device. Clipcroft is free and ad-supported.

Do both devices need to be on the same network?

No. The two devices can be on completely different networks. Your computer can be at home and the other device at the office; Clipcroft connects them over the internet.

Do I need an account to use Clipcroft?

No. Clipcroft has no account system — no Apple ID, no Microsoft account, no Google account, no email, no signup.

Open Clipcroft on your computer, create a clipboard, open it on your other device, and start sharing.
